By using environment-friendly, energy-saving, virtually non-emission and non-waste generating aggregate mining and processing technologies, we minimise all possible impacts of our facilities on the environment.
Mining in the most of the pits is performed from under the water surface which in all cases is also used for aggregate treatment and confinement of dust. Most of the equipment, including heating devices, is electric-powered and does not emit any pollution. Machine motors are equipped with advanced fuel-saving technology, catalysts and particle filters with afterburning. As low-emission devices they comply with standards Tier 4 (USA) and Stage IIIB (UE). Thanks to a modern park of mining and processing machines also the noise emission rates are minimised. Especially the application of polyurethane and rubber screens instead of metal elements used in the past has to be emphasised in this respect. Belt conveyor transport used widely in our pits is the cheapest and also the most environment-friendly solution. According to regular dust, noise and vibration measurements, harmful impact, if any, is restricted to the nearest surroundings of operating machinery and contained within acceptable official norms.
The extraction of aggregate from under the water surface excludes the necessity of water repumping. We also operate on dry seams. The water circulation for aggregate processing is closed – water is collected from mining basins or water-bearing layers and after sedimentation it is returned to its source. No chemical substances are used in the treatment process. Therefore, no significant changes of level and quality of ground or surface water are observed in the vicinity of the pits. However, if necessary, we perform constant monitoring of the water status with a network of piezometers.
Earth masses from the seam superlayer and mixed with aggregate not fit for sale (loam, finest sands) are returned to the working or gathered on temporary stockpiles located on the edge of the plant protecting the neighbourhood against noise and dust emission. Subsequently, such piled-up material is used for the recultivation of decommissioned pit areas. In some locations also forests act as natural noise barriers.
All waste (household, worn-out oil, tyres, scrap, electronics, paper etc.) are collected separately and delivered to specialist waste recycling and disposal companies.
We also care about the transport of aggregate outside our facilities performed by other companies or customers. Our duties include the inspection of the maximum load weight of vehicles, as well as proper protection (tarpaulin) of cargo. We pave the access roads to our plants and sprinkle them in dry periods. Diversion routes are planned and agreed with road administration so as to omit populated areas, if possible.
